Generate a unique ProtocolBase Number. The ProtocolBase Number has the following format: YYDDxxxxxx where YY is the year, e.g. 09. MM is the month, e.g. 03 for March xxxxxx is a sequence number

getYear

protected String getYear(Calendar calendar)

Get the current year, only the last two digits.

Parameters:

calendar - the current time

Returns:

the year as 2 digits as a string

getMonth

protected String getMonth(Calendar calendar)

Get the current month, always 2 digits.

Parameters:

calendar - the current time

Returns:

the month as 2 digits, e.g. 03 is March

getNextNumber

protected String getNextNumber()

Get the next sequence number which is always 6 digits, including leading zeros.

Returns:

the next sequence number

getSequenceNumber

protected Long getSequenceNumber()

Get the next database sequence number. Not sure what would happen if multiple threads were to call this method at the same time to access the database sequence. Therefore, it is synchronzied to prevent any possible conflicts.

the next database sequence number
