South African Emergency Campaign: A Call to Action
> When I came across this article, my attention was sparked by it because it discussed the Sharpeville Massacre and ways to get involved in the liberation struggle to an American audience. I've always been really interested in how other countries felt during apartheid and how it affected communities in other nations. There is also an article included in the pamphlet by Alan Paton that discusses the state of the nation, the Nationalist Party, and why apartheid doesn't make logical sense. For the purposes of this assignment I'll be focusing on American sentiments and influence, and lack thereof, during apartheid. >
This document is very significant because it is full of the anger and shock following the Sharpeville Massacre. I believe it's important to see how the liberation movement started affecting people all over the world, rather just in South Africa. >
The Aluka library was helpful in finding primary sources, but there were many times when it would not let me download PDF files or the whole site would be down. >
